Why I Do This Work

My journey into counselling began as a client. It was not linear, but through my experiences it was something I always came back to. Through my various fields of study, there is one connecting thread through it all: being a supportive force for others.

When I first started therapy, I was seeking help navigating the grief of ongoing familial challenges, the long-term effects of chronic stress and anxiety on my nervous system, and the complexities of relationships. Years of personal therapy have shown me just how transformative the process can be. I became a counsellor because I believe being supported, understood, and empowered with knowledge about how our minds and bodies respond to life’s experiences can create meaningful and lasting change.

My own counsellor played a pivotal role in helping me turn this work into a reality through her support and resounding belief in me — my hope is that I can provide that same empowering, non-judgmental, and therapeutic space for you. Having spent years in the client’s chair myself and experiencing how life-changing it can be, instilled is a passion for providing an unwavering partnership for you to tap into your inner resilience and flourish. This continues to ground my practice, ensuring that clients are met with empathy, intentionality, and compassion.

Being human is both beautiful and messy, and you deserve support while navigating the challenges that come with it.

Values & Beliefs

Healing happens in connection when we feel truly seen, safe, and supported. Here are the core values and beliefs that guide my practice and shape how we will work together:

  • You Are the Expert: I respect your personal autonomy and your right to choose and direct your care is vitally important. My aim is to follow your lead as you show up for yourself and this journey. I see you as a whole person with lived experience that informs who you are and how you operate through the world.

  • Flattening the Hierarchy: Therapy should be a collaborative partnership. I actively work to reduce traditional power dynamics to create a space where your innate wisdom is central and you leave sessions feeling empowered.

  • Systemic Approach: I look at the bigger picture, exploring how your environment, relationships, community, and the systems you live in impact your well-being.

  • Radical Inclusion & Humility: I approach our work with empathy, cultural sensitivity, and non-judgment. Everyone is welcome exactly as they are.

  • Walking the Walk: I believe in the power of the therapeutic process and believe that therapists should go to therapy!

Modalities

I use a range of therapeutic modalities, but I am best described as a person-centred, emotion-focused, and parts work counsellor, operating from a trauma-informed lens.

Ultimately, we work together to see what approach may be the best for you individually and tailor it to your needs! Flexibility and curiosity are always prioritized, and if something isn’t working, we can set it aside and try something new.
